Colby's first tooth!

Colby lost his first tooth on Saturday morning! When I checked on the tooth, I noticed it was starting to get pretty loose.....that got Colby geared up! Most of my kids at school break out in a sweat if I even suggest that they need to pull a tooth because every time they move their tongue, the tooth swings back and forth...ewww!! Not Colby, he meant that tooth was coming out! I got a tissue and when I heard the first POP of a root, I was done! I told him to just keep pushing his tongue on it, and we would revisit in a few days. After about 10 minutes of hanging out in front of the mirror, he came and got me and said he felt it move. He told me to get a tissue and pull it! I grabbed and in one big yank it came out......I couldn't believe it! I never thought I'd pull a tooth! I can't tell you how excited Colby was.....he kept saying, "I can't believe my tooth came out!"

The tooth fairy found us!! It probably won't be long before she comes again....the tooth next door is beginning to lean!

HE does, SHE does....

HE uses my kitchen things to make lots of noise.....

while SHE smears Desitin all over calling it lotion!

Later....they are looking for last minute entertainment before bed! Colby decides it would be a good idea to swap roles and let Aubree push for a change. She shed her socks for more grip and did a mighty fine job! She got this (second) baby stroller at Christmas and it's down to nothing but the frame! I guess I need to let her play with the old umbrella stroller in the car.....

Afternoon Naps

I was home a little early today because I had to take Aubree to the doctor for a cold that seems to be going downhill. We made it back just in time for her to catch a little snooze......

Against his wishes, Colby had to rest too! For some reason, he was whiney and unagreeable, so I put him on the sofa, and he caught some zzzzzz's too...... It's that midweek hill that just wears a person down.....BUT it's downhill from here! :)

Little Miss Independent

These days mostly everything is a back and forth struggle because Aubree wants to do everything alone! Just to name a few: wash her hair, use the hairdryer, clothes off, clothes on, brush teeth, climb.....well, basically everything EXCEPT pottying!

Usually she gives up before an entire outfit is on OR I don't have time to wait for it to happen :)....not this morning! She was adamant she was going to do it - all the way! So I followed her, more or less to several rooms, as she wrestled with the clothes (and her hair-ha!) I offered to help, but..... **I do realize that we have a lot of bed head pictures**
FINALLY, after wrestling with the clothes for some time, she decided that this part of her shirt..."it boke"

***LATER IN THE MORNING***

I was in the laundry room, and she had the back door opened talking to "Lak Lawg" (Black Dog). After sufficient time, I told her to close the door. I assumed when I heard the door slam that she was on this side of the door. I started talking to her and I didn't hear anything back, so I walked out of the laundry room and called her name and silence....which does not go well with the name "Aubree". I opened the back door and saw her taking off with Colby's tennis shoes which were by the back door!

Colby was gone with Al, so we had an early lunch and spent several needed hours outside today to soak up the nice sunshine!

Just Us...

Colby had to head back to school today, so it was the two of us. He gets pretty jealous when he has to leave and we are still here in our pjs. Grandma O. was cooking lunch so we loaded up for a visit and a bite to eat....Aubree must have loved her lunch because she was shoveling it in today! On our way back to the house, she reminded me that we had to stop and get the mail, so here she is with a piece of shredded junk mail! That's the reason she likes to get the mail....

We made it back just in time for a snooze before we had to get Colby....

Tomorrow, we HAVE to pick up the pace...but it's been nice!!

Our Snow Experience!

I never would have thought it would happen, but I'm so glad the kids got to have some snow! We went out for a bit last night until Colby said his hands were frozen, so we came back inside. I was reeeeally hoping it would stay around until morning so they could look around and see everything covered in snow. I heard Aubree start to talk around 7:15 this morning, so I got up and went to the door......and it was still there! I went and got Al so we could snatch some clothes on the kids before the sun took it from us.......

Colby said, "Mama remember when I used to ask you about snow and you said it never snows here?"
This was my favorite one of all!!! I do hope we get the chance to have more snow pictures (at our house) before they are grown.

Sing It!

If you get a glimpse at Aubree's p.j.'s that say "Big Sister", don't be alarmed!!! That is NOT the purpose of the video......

It only means that Carter's had a great sale on some cozy p.j.'s with fleece bottoms for about $5, and that was all they had in her size - it's only us anyway :) But wouldn't she make a great big sister...she has sooooo much to teach!! ha

video

The camera isn't set up for the best shot, but it was the prime opportunity to get some singing from her. She usually wants us to sing and clap every night when she gets out of her bath, and if I fiddled with the camera, I knew she wouldn't do it! I reeeeeally wanted her to sing BINGO and Jesus Loves Me, because those are just way funny and you have to see it to get the idea. As usual, you can't lead a two-year-old.......you have to go with their flow sometimes! Hope you enjoy our performance! :)

Church Outing

At the end of January, Colby was able to make his move into Junior Church since he is now six years old! So on Saturday, Lee took the children to eat pizza and then bowling (he is so good with the kids and has patience that just spills over when it comes to the tons of loud, rowdy boys he works with-lol)! Seriously though, time has flown at lightning speed, and I realize it when I look at how fast he has progressed through the different levels at church. During my working Sunday, I would babysit him in infant nursery and feed him a bottle, and it wasn't long before I was dropping him off in toddler nursery because he started walking (which seemed like forever :)). Colby joined Children's Church once he turned three where I have taught him on my rotation for the past three years. Now Lee gets him for the next few years before he has to be a grown up and sit in church with us!! BTW, I do still teach his Sunday School class, but it won't be long before he'll be leaving that too! Time moves on....

Aubree's two year check-up

We were finally able to make it to Aubree's 2-year check-up with Dr. Wilkes yesterday. Our original appointment was scheduled during the time she had strep, so it had to be changed. At that point, I just decided to get past January before heading for another appointment. Naturally, it was pouring rain yesterday, so it is always fun to lug two bodies and our stuff inside with an attempt to stay under the umbrella! :)
Against her will, they took her weight which was 29 1/2 pounds and measured her height at 35 inches. She is in the 75th percentile for both....she also had a finger prick, last Hepatitis A shot, and MMR - also very much against her will!
At this point:
*she wears a 2T shirt, 24 months pants, 2 or 3T dress, and usually a 6 1/2 shoe.
*loves stuffed animals and baby dolls
*not a huge fan of fruit, but loves grapes after her bath every night
*goes to bed around 7:15 (on school nights) and is a great napper
*loves playing with her DD (Colby)
*still does not ride very well in the car
*has almost stopped pottying when we were close to being trained
*loves to sing
*you HAVE to check on her if she leaves the room
*is loud, independent, and talks up a storm.... I hope I can remember some of the things she says one day, such as "got booger up there", "where Daddy goin", "I want medicine", "blah, blah, blah", "shhhh", "my shoes on", "scat-cat", "I sleepy mama", she checks her baby doll's pants and says, "got poopy baby?", "I kiss Baylor", "I scratch John McLean"....which we continue to be VERY sorry for every day!
AND
*is the cutest baby girl ever!

I was a little disappointed that it was nasty weather and couldn't shop a bit. I didn't want to get her out in the rain for errands, plus she sacked out when we left the doctor's office and you DON'T disturb a sleeping Aubree in the car......so I stopped for my usual vanilla coke and headed back. We decided to visit with Grandma once we got back to Glennville since Colby and Al were gone. Grandma is always happy when the great-grands come too!
